1) [dʒa'nɛ, französisch], Oasenstadt in der zentralen Sahara Algeriens, am Südfuß des Tassili N'Ajjer, etwa 6 000 Einwohner; Obst- und Gemüsebau, Dattelpalmenhaine, Fremdenverkehr; Flugplatz.

Geschichte:

Djanet wurde 1911 von den Franzosen gegründet.

2) ['dʒa-], heutiger Name der altägyptischen Stadt Tanis.
